I realized that's the real term for you 'modern' folks (sugar-suckers).
I've slowly watched my culture's culinary palette (palate?) turn into Chef Boy Ar Dee brand food.
Just watching BBQ turn from a smoked to a candy-coated item was enough to convince me that something was afoot.
At Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse, they were confused when I didn't want to get any sauce on my meat (really).
