Alignments

No, not stellar, character.

In a classical gaming system, one can have one of two alignments on one plane:

Good, or evil.

One can have an alignment on a plane describing the way that one effects such ends, and that can be 'ordered' or 'chaotic' (that being the distinction between whether a character can do 'evil' to effect 'good' or vice-versa).

In a mutated gaming system, one can have 'neutral' characters, in both alignment and order, so that the net (normal) result for a game setup includes characters of neutral good, neutral neutral, neutral evil, etc.

It's only complex in a couple of dimensions.
